Whatever became of Simone?

Ah, Simone. The eager young girl who stumbled upon a group of wee folk in her backyard garden, joined forces with them, and the rest is history. But whatever became of Simone after The Awakening came to an end? The answer can be found in the Forest Spirit short story anthology, Song of the Spirits. The story, entitled simply, “Simone”, explores the young witch’s apprenticeship with Cassandra and her first real experience in assessing the needs of the Forest and attempting to defend it from peril. The question is—will she succeed?

T. Damon, an avid practitioner of magic in her own right, has experienced her own ups and downs in magical apprenticeship. A solitary sorceress since childhood, T was used to learning and practicing without the aid of a coven or even so much as a teacher—until someone entered her life that completely upended her entire world. This person was ruthless in their attempt to tear her down, alternating from admiring her knowledge and abilities to jealously scorning her for the very virtues they once praised. It was through this pseudo-teacher that T was forced to re-learn self-reliance through magic, though she truly hopes that one day a magician with vastly more experience than her can join her on her lone path to all-encompassing adepthood. Until then, she’s perfectly happy to walk it by herself. After all, she has since she was old enough to read magic books.
